Get your nights back without sleep training

Who came up with the saying, ‘Sleep like a baby?!?

I thought about this way often during my son’s first year. Most parents will agree: aside from those first days, baby sleep is noisy, unpredictable, and inconvenient. You’re not alone in feeling like you need to “fix” your baby or thinking sleep training is the solution. I’m here to tell you there are other ways to help your baby sleep without letting them cry it out.

I want to help make your nights easier, because I’ve been there.

Before my son was born, I knew nothing about infant sleep. I’d heard about sleep training, “drowsy but awake,” and that you should never sleep with your baby.

But when he arrived, he refused the bassinet no matter what we tried. He only slept in my arms (totally normal btw), which I loved, until days of little sleep left me anxious, exhausted, and convinced I was doing it all wrong.

Confused by the advice, I researched safe bedsharing and learned that many mothers do it, and there are many benefits! So, I brought him into my bed, and we finally slept, safely and soundly.

The next 18 months still had challenges, but things got better when I stopped trying to control his sleep. We forget that babies are human too, and their sleep needs vary, just like ours.

The more I learned, the more I realized I wasn’t doing anything wrong, my baby was normal. Our babies’ need for connection and comfort doesn’t stop at bedtime. I wish I’d known that sooner. Since I can’t go back, I now help other parents understand their baby’s sleep and find what works for them.

If:

  • Your baby is waking every hour.

  • Your baby refuses to sleep in their bassinet.

  • You’re touched out from all the rocking.

  • You feel like something needs to change but you don’t want to sleep train.

Then it’s time we talk because late night googling isn’t a sustainable sleep plan.

“A baby’s cry is just as serious as it is during the day. Needs do not decrease as the sun sets.”

Sarah Ockwell-Smith, Why Your Baby’s Sleep Matters

Everyone has infant sleep advice they swear by. While most of it may be well meaning, a lot of it’s outdated and just plain wrong. The truth? There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to infant sleep, and you know your baby better than anyone. You deserve support that trusts your instincts and respects your values as a parent.

My Philosophy

I believe in honouring what's developmentally and biologically normal for babies — which often differs from what culture says it “should” be.

Babies can’t self-regulate until around 3–5 years old, and our brains are wired to respond to a baby’s cry — day and night. This isn’t a flaw; it’s how we’re meant to function.

Instead of using one-size-fits-all fixes, I focus on the root causes of sleep struggles. Every baby is unique, with their own temperament and needs. I help families work with their baby’s biology, not against it.

My approach is gentle, responsive, and protects the parent-child bond. I support you in optimising daily rhythms and nighttime routines to improve sleep, without compromising your baby’s sense of security.

Most importantly, your instincts aren’t broken and neither is your baby. Night wakings, the need for closeness, the urge to respond, all normal. I help you navigate sleep in a way that aligns with your values and your baby’s development. I’ll work FOR your little one, advocate for their needs, and help you get them to sleep using a holistic, gentle approach. My goal is to support you in a way that respects you AND your baby.

When we work with biology instead of fighting it, everyone sleeps better.

There’s a gentler way. Let’s find it together.
